The Seymour Telegraph is 128 years old and in 1961 was the first paper, outside of Shepparton, the McPherson Media Group purchased.

The weekly newspaper services the towns of Seymour, Nagambie, Avenel, Puckapunyal and Tallarook, bringing the communities together by celebrating achievements and sharing issues, along with some friendly sporting rivalry. In the Telegraph the serious topics are always covered, however with the community-focused journalists there is an emphasis given to the community chat and information that has the most impact on keeping the communities connected and engaged.

The town of Seymour plays an important role in servicing the agricultural industries that surround it including equine, cattle, sheep and wine, which provide a variety of job opportunities and makes for a strong economy.
