Residents in Seymour, Shepparton and Echuca are being warned severe thunderstorms are likely during the next few hours as it moves east.
The Bureau of Meteorology says damaging winds, very heavy rainfall, flash flooding and large hailstones could hit the northern country and north central forecast districts.

The State Emergency Service advises people should:
- Keep clear of fallen power lines.
- Secure any loose objects near homes.
- Keep away from creeks and drains.
- Do not drive vehicles through flooded areas.
- Stay indoors if possible.
- Avoid using the phone.
- Avoid sheltering under trees.
- Listen to the radio for storm updates.
- Switch off your computer and electrical appliances.
