Rain in Rochester causes minor flooding

Heavy rain caused some minor flooding in Rochester today. The State Emergency Service was called to two residential buildings, while a business was closed due to flooding.

By Elaine Cooney

Rochester State Emergency Service was called to two properties today after heavy rain fell for about an hour from 11.30am.

The first property was in the Rochester caravan park where an annex flooded due to storm water. SES volunteers sandbagged the property to prevent further damage.

The unit was then called to a leaking roof on Moore St. Resident Danielle Bond said she mopped up about 4litre of water from the kitchen floor.

The Rochester branch of the Lockington, Elmore and Rochester district Community Bank also closed due to flooding.
