Sidecar world champion Darrin Treloar did as expected as the three-wheeled motorcycle format hit Undera Park Speedway on Saturday night.

Treloar was partnered by Simon Cohrs and again comfortably claimed the Undera Park Speedway Sidecar Masters title.

The duo also claimed the event when sidecar racing returned to Undera Park after an extended lay-off last year.

Sidecar racing involves a three-wheeled motorcycle with a driver and a passenger, with the machines able to reach top speeds of of 180km/h.

Goulburn Valley Motorcycle Club secretary and track co-ordinator Alan Jones said Treloar was simply a class above.

‘‘Darrin Treloar did his usual job,’’ Jones said.

‘‘He just outclassed everyone else, as you would expect being the world No.1.

‘‘But the local riders did give a good showing.’’

He said the club’s 16-year-old senior debutants Ash Duncan and Kaleb Kennedy had struggled in the initial step up, but would be better for the experience.

‘‘Our young 16-year-olds did their best,’’ he said.

‘‘It was their first meeting in the senior ranks and it will take some getting used to for them.

‘‘But it will be a great experience for them.

‘‘Sometimes you can learn more from watching how the better riders go about it, by seeing what they do.

‘‘If you get behind them you can find that you go much quicker also, just because they are dragging you along with them.’’

Coming in second was Rick Curran with Goulburn Valley’s Mitch Duncan as passenger and third was Dale Milner and Nick O’Brien.

The club will next host a come and try day on Saturday, March 16.

Jones said people could bring their own bikes along and there would be limited club-owned machines available for use.

Motorcycle Victoria will be granting free one-day licences for people who attend and those who participate will then be granted a full 12-month recreational licence.

The event will start from approximately 9am with a club event to follow.

Jones said both events would be open and free to spectators.
