Curtis-McDonald is a family name linked with tennis prowess in the Goulburn Valley, and the siblings showed why that was last weekend.

Hope, James, D’Arcy and Cal Curtis-McDonald nearly swept the board at the Wangaratta Lawn Tennis Club Australia Day tournament.

Seventeen-year-old Hope won the women’s open singles final 6-1 6-4, and Hope and D’Arcy, 19, won the women’s open doubles, 6-3 6-0.

Hope’s twin brother James and Cal, 24, were knocked out of the men’s A-grade doubles draw in their first match, but took out the men’s open doubles 3-6 7-6(4) 6-2.

Cal won the A-grade men’s singles against Shepparton Lawn Tennis Club’s Joel Bourke, 8-2, and he and Hope won the A-grade mixed doubles, 8-1.

James made it to the semi-final of the men’s open singles, but was knocked out in straight sets.

Hope and D’Arcy only had one other competitor in the women’s open singles and doubles, but there was a strong contingent of competitors in the men’s events.

‘‘It was good to actually win the open doubles because both those players were really good,’’ Cal said.

‘‘One plays Futures events and is really good and the other bloke was their club coach.

‘‘There were lots of good players in the men, so it was good to get a good hit.’’

This was the last tournament for the time being for the siblings, who are all undertaking challenges of a different kind in the coming weeks.

Hope and James will be in Year 12, D’Arcy is returning to Warrnambool to continue her law degree and Cal is planning a move to Melbourne.

Hope and James will pick up the racquet this weekend to continue their Goulburn Murray Lawn Tennis Association premier one campaign with Shepparton Bears.
