Pacers out to continue winning streaks at Shepparton
Last start Echuca winners Dobop and Waynesfirst will clash in the first heat of the Victorian Harness Racing Club Provincial Cup at tonight’s Wangaratta Harness Racing Club meeting at Shepparton Raceway.
By Gus UnderwoodLast start Echuca winners Dobop and Waynesfirst will clash in the first heat of the Victorian Harness Racing Club Provincial Cup at tonight’s Wangaratta Harness Racing Club meeting at Shepparton Raceway.
In fact, Dobop will be striving to complete a hat-trick of wins and Waynesfirst four successive wins in the 2190
The Elmore-trained Dobop has come up with the prize barrier two draw and will be driven by Scott Dyer, who is returning to race driving after a long injury-enforced spell on the sidelines.
By contrast, the Ben Gledhill-trained Waynesfirst will need luck to be in the finish from a second row draw.
But the race is certainly far from a two-horse race and has other last start winners in the Noel Tyndall-trained Earls Reign and Mosquito Zephyr engaged along with the in-form and well-drawn Whata Avenue and Dynamite Dude.
Another pacer looking to extend his winning run at tonight’s meeting is the Daniel Jack-trained and driven Ohoka Courage.
Ohoka Courage is also shooting for a hat-trick of wins and is favorably drawn in barrier three over the 1690
But his two main rivals, Majestic Reign and Conflict Of Interest, have drawn inside him so it should be helter-skelter affair early in the race for the poleline running.
Shepparton trainer Stacey Towers will also be trying to send punters home on a winning note when she steps out last-start Kilmore winner Chevaux Rainbow in TO or better trotters’ handicap.
The eight-race meeting kicks off at 6.32
