Professional golfer Kristopher Mueck equalled Numurkah Golf and Bowls Club’s course record on his way to winning its Pro Am on Saturday.

Mueck blitzed the course with six-under-par 66 ahead of a three-way tie for second between Jim Cusdin, Alex Hawley and John Wade with four-under-par 68.

Numurkah’s head professional Anthony Sanders said the course record had been set by Shepparton’s Jarrod Lyle in October 2004, just before Lyle turned professional.

‘‘It was a tremendous score, which was very good to see. When the pros start shooting scores like that, you can say the course is in pretty good nick and it is definitely playable,’’ Sanders said.

‘‘(Mueck) said he played steady all day. At the presentation he said he kept rolling his putts in and I think he was about eight-under with about four or five to go and dropped a couple of shots coming home.’’

The win was one better than Mueck’s result on Friday at the Mooroopna Golf Club Pro Am.

He was part of a five-way tie for fourth and one shot behind winners Alex Benjamin, Andrew Kelly and Adam Porker, who won with five-under-par 68.

Shepparton’s Leighton Lyle came equal seventh at Numurkah with Kelly with one-under-par 71, Porker finished on par in equal 13th and Benjamin finished equal 28th on five-over-par.

Sanders came equal 20th with defending champion Michael Curtain with three-over-par.

Forty-one professionals took part in Saturday’s event and Mueck took home $1796 prizemoney for the win.

Yarrawonga Golf Club’s Jake Moore won the amateur A-grade stableford competition with 40 points and Shepparton’s Leigh Talbot won the B-grade division with 42 points.

Melbourne’s Bev Steedman won the women’s competition with 37 points.

The team’s event was won by Geelong professional Darrell Brown (four-over-par), Mooroopna’s Bill Murphy and Shepparton’s Colin Bashim and Shane Myers with 53 points.

Sanders said the event raised $200 for Zaidee’s Rainbow Foundation.
