The field for this year’s Mooroopna Masters on Saturday is set to expand from last year’s counterpart with the women’s field included in this year’s event.
As well as the men’s 36-hole and mixed 18-hole events, a women’s 36-hole competition has also been added to the program.
The club had received about 110 entries across all three events at noon yesterday.
There were 42 entries in the 36-hole event and 68 entries for the 18-hole competition last year, but already there is about 50 entries for the men’s and women’s 36-hole competition and about 60 for the 18-hole competition.
‘‘Entries are still coming in, I’ve had five or six today,’’ Mooroopna professional Chris Donovan said.
The club has received entries from other Goulburn Valley clubs including Shepparton, Kyabram Parkland, Nagambie, Barooga and Tocumwal, but also clubs as far away as Albury, Croydon and Hamilton.
But Donovan said he had not seen entries from last year’s 36-hole winner, Cobram-Barooga’s Terry Vogel, or runner-up Brett Kellow from Mooroopna.
Vogel has won the Masters six out of the 11 years it has been run, and Kellow had finished runner-up two years running.
Competitors in the men’s 36-hole competition have a handicap of nine or better, while in the women’s competition its 12 or better.
The handicap for the 18-hole competition is 27 or better.
The first group will tee off at about 7
