Rosecoloredglasses is the Black Caviar of Alexandra racecourse.

The eight-year-old Tatura-trained mare made it four wins from four starts at the course on Saturday with victory in the $2300 Open Trophy Race.

Rosecoloredglasses’ first win at the track was in March 2009, followed by two wins in February and March 2010.

She has had six starts since her last win at Tocumwal on April 7 last year for a record of a win, two seconds, a third and two fifths, but her Victorian rating is 50.

‘‘The problem with her now is her rating has dropped so low it’s very hard to get a run at the professionals, which is a bit of a shame because she is going so well,’’ trainer Rocky Hellicar said.

‘‘She’s had to go back there (to the picnic meeting at Alexandra) so she can get a run, but she seems to like Alexandra because it’s the fourth time she’s been there and it’s her fourth win.’’

Hellicar was unsure exactly why the track suited her, but guessed the standard of horse made her competitive and said she seemed to go quite well on the undulating course.

Hellicar planned to enter Rosecoloredglasses in the Tumbarumba Cup on February 9, where she ran third last year, but wanted her to have one more run somewhere in the interim.

She has been nominated for a Super VOBIS fillies and mares 0-58 handicap at Kyneton on Sunday, but Hellicar was not confident she would gain a run.

‘‘She’ll have to have another run somewhere. What worries me about going to the picnics again is the weight she’s going to get because she had 67kg the other day and she’ll go higher than that again,’’ he said.

Hellicar said the mare would try her hardest whatever race she was in.

‘‘Whatever race she’s in, she really tries. She might lack a little bit of natural ability in one way, but it’s the fact she tries so hard,’’ he said.

‘‘She’s eight years old and she really loves being in work and she loves to race.’’
