Kyabram’s season resurrection is not quite of a biblical proportions, but in recent weeks there has been a remarkable rise nonetheless.

Kyabram did not have a win to its name after seven rounds and held a 17-point buffer on the bottom of the ladder, but has won four matches since (including a forfeit last round).

The first time it faced Mooroopna in round two at Kyabram it was beaten by one shot, but reversed its fortunes yesterday with a four-shot win in trying conditions.

Kyabram president and skipper Maree Boswell said the weather forced the sides to take a five-minute break, but they persevered through rain, wind and sunshine.

‘‘It was very tough. It was very windy one way, so fast one way and slow the other way... and changed continuously, so it was hard work,’’ Boswell said.

‘‘But our girls have done exceptionally well, so I’m very proud of them.’’

Boswell led Mooroopna skipper Lorraine Nicholls comfortably after the 10th end when Kyabram picked up six shots and won 30-19.

Mooroopna’s Willy Graus took a 9-6 lead against Jan Dixon after picking up a miraculous eight shots on the fourth end and led 19-13 after 16 ends.

Dixon finished well and picked up five shots on the last three ends to win 27-21.

Mooroopna’s only winner was Dawn Blake, filling in for the absent Bernie Nichols, who led all day and defeated Mia Nowosad 27-14.

Kyabram has lifted to eighth on the ladder and is seven points clear of Mooroopna in 10th.

‘‘We’re just starting to come good at the moment and hopefully we can keep going,’’ Boswell said.

‘‘We’re starting to settle down a bit more as individual teams, so we seem to have a better balance, so hopefully we can keep doing it.’’

Graus said Mooroopna had had too many ups and downs this season due to constant team changes because players were unavailable.

‘‘We’re just not good enough this year, that’s all it is. It’s very disappointing actually because we had a talk and we said if we don’t get through this week, that’s really the end, because we were on the bottom of the list already anyway,’’ she said.

‘‘We had to win this one to get a little bit of confidence. We haven’t, so we’ll have to try and build up some confidence and try again next week.

‘‘We’re not going to give in, but it’s been a disappointing year.’’

Graus described the losses as a ‘‘snowball effect’’.

‘‘If you come home often enough after not winning, in the end you turn around and say ‘We can’t win anyway’, and this is one thing you have to try and avoid,’’ she said.
