By Gus UnderwoodTwo heats of the Victorian Harness Racing Sports Club Metropolitan Cup will feature on an eight-race program today at Shepparton Harness Racing Club.
The heats for C4-C5 and C1 Only class pacers have drawn two strong fields although the C4-C5 heat will have only seven runners.
Two of these runners, Lifes A Lombo and Ezee Duzit Lombo, are from the Kialla stable of John Hallam and have come up with the two plum inside barrier draws.
Ardmona trainer Doc Wilson has the honest performer Black Doug, who will come from barrier five, engaged in this race.
Last start winner Fergus McCool, who has drawn barrier three, looks to be well in what looks an even race.
Impressive last start winners Forbidden Interest and Beau Dandy have drawn barriers one and three respectively in a strong heat of the C1 Only series.
Stanhope trainer Gary Pekin has come up with barrier four in this heat with promising pacer Illawong Travel who should be hard to beat.
The Noel Tyndall-trained Earls Reign and the Hallam-tutored Modern Lebron, despite a second row draw, look well capable of making their presence felt in this heat.
Successful Narrandera trainer Shaun Snudden will be a trainer to watch at the meeting.
He has Dimensions engaged in the opening race, Billy Branach contesting a C1 Only class race for four-year-olds and upwards and Wheres Sarah Now coming from the prized number one alley in a C2-C3 dash over 1690
Concession reinsman Paul Diebert will partner all three pacers.
Today’s opening race is at 1.47
