The Students made a shaky start against Katandra in Haisman Shield’s round 10 when opener Paul Tricarico was dismissed for eight runs.
Breslin came in at first drop and began his innings with Chris Hamilton before making a 59-run partnership with Riley Michel.
Breslin came in at 1-10 last round against Shepparton United (it was soon 2-11) and made 88.
He made 56 on Saturday against the Eagles before he was caught off a Hadleigh Sirett ball.
Mathers came in at number five at 3-102 (4-102 shortly after when Breslin was caught) and made 61 in his fourth Haisman Shield match of the season.
The Students were 6-128 when captain Ryan Boswell was caught for six runs, but finished with 212.
Boswell was disappointed with his own dismissal, after playing a self-proclaimed ordinary shot off a full toss.
‘‘We probably would have liked a few more runs, but we lost wickets at the wrong time and in the end we were happy to get to a couple of hundred,’’ Boswell said.
‘‘It was a bit disappointing we couldn’t get another partnership in the middle-order there, but Nick and Brent both batted really well for their 50s.
‘‘Brent showed a fair bit of experience and it probably got us over the 200 mark in the end.’’
Katandra medium-pace bowler Ray Ireland took 2-32 from 10 overs and spinner Andrew Riordan and off-spinner Andrew Nicholls took 2-36 and 2-51, respectively.
Captain Adam Cleary said he was happy to contain the Students to 212.
He said the Eagles hoped to get them out for less, but Mathers steadied the ship in the middle-order.
‘‘Both the spinners bowled really well,’’ Cleary said.
‘‘It was a really good batting track, so we just tried to take the pace off them a little bit and those guys bowled really, really well so that was pleasing.
‘‘We were happy to contain them to that. A couple of their bats got away from us a bit, but they batted pretty well.
‘‘We didn’t put down any chances at all, we took every chance we could get, so I can’t really fault that.’’
Katandra will resume at 0-11 on Saturday.
