Grant Weeks to play in GVFL with Rochester
Multiple premiership player and Victoria Country representative Grant Weeks will for for Goulburn Valley Football League club Rochester next year.
Superstar country footballer Grant Weeks will play for Goulburn Valley Football League club Rochester next year.
The Colbinabbin farmer, who turned 24 in August, kicked a combined 451 goals in the past three seasons for Bendigo league side Golden Square.
Weeks also booted 124 majors the year before that for Heathcote District league team Colbinabbin.
Tigers coach Peter White said it was “very exciting” news for his club.
“He is 24 now and wants to challenge himself at GVL level and still thinks he’s got a bit to improve yet,” White said.
“He’s been Vic Country full-forward the last few years and he wants to challenge himself against some new players.”
The multiple premiership player and Victoria Country representative, who is regarded as one of Australia’s best country footballers, first made contact with Rochester officials two Saturdays ago.
Weeks works with the Tigers’ South Bendigo recruit Daniel Anderson and is close friends with fellow ex-Golden Square-cum-Rochester players Brayden Dorrington and Callum Sharp.
He also knows Tigers Nick Knight and Sam Vale well.
