The in-form Dave Farrar-Riley Fortin team struck again with a double in the return of harness racing to the Gunbower Harness Racing Club track on Sunday.

The Farrar-trained My Mums A Star and Arriens were successful at the meeting, courtesy of top Fortin drives.

My Mums A Star created her own piece of history by winning the first race in the return to racing at Gunbower, a feat Farrar also achieved earlier this year when Gangster Boy won at Wangaratta when the club staged its first meeting on its track for seven years.

Fortin also reined My Mums A Star to victory two starts earlier at Cobram on November 6.

Connections are now looking forward to a Modern Art colt foaled last week by My Mums A Star’s dam, Silkari Star.

Farrar and Fortin were back in the winner’s circle two races later at Gunbower with lightly raced three-year-old Arriens upstaging the favourite Forest Fury after another confident Fortin drive.

Farrar races Arriens in partnership with Shepparton businessman Michael Moroney and his wife Gay and Rochester’s Sue Ludby.

The wins of My Mums A Star and Arriens followed up a win by Gangster Boy at Cobram the previous Monday.

‘‘Along with Attackamach, who is making good progress for his comeback there are four last-start winners in the stable at present which is very satisfying,’’ Farrar said.

Farrar was also quick to praise 23-year-old Fortin, who works for him in preparing a team at the Kialla complex.

‘‘He has had only the 15 drives this season for me now and has driven seven winners. He is very patient and keen to learn and is a good listener,’’ he said.

‘‘He wants to be a successful driver and he’s certainly on the way to achieving that.’’
