Goulburn Valley Equestrian Club put on quite a show for the Victorian Top Teams Trophy at the weekend.
The event, which was held across two days, brought more than 250 horses and competitors to the event, with some travelling as much as nine hours to take part in one of the most prestigious events on the Horse Riding Club Association of Victoria calendar.
‘‘It was absolutely fantastic,’’ club secretary Jacinta Rennie, who was recently named the HRCAV top show rider of the year, said.
‘‘We had five rings running the whole weekend, with each ring holding different sections each day.
‘‘Tatura Park held up very well and we were very lucky to be able to utilise the Western Oval for people to park their cars which was fantastic, because otherwise we wouldn’t have been able to fit everyone in.’’
The event was taken out by Sister Act, a team from Biddlesden Park Equestrian Club, granting that club the opportunity to host next year’s event.
Sister Act, a team made up of Chloe Brooks, Regina Knobel, Gabrielle Lieschke and Charlotte Mansley, earned a score of 66, putting them comfortably ahead of the Rich River Rebels, who scored 51.
Knobel and her mount Zephyr’s Lady was also the highpoint winner — the winner of each section each day — in section 1B, with 29 points, while Lieschke and her mount Strutin Destiny was the 2A winner with 21 points.
Divisions were separated by horse height during the two days.
GVEC entered seven teams in the event, with GVEC Royale, comprised of Bruce Ross, Sherrie-Lee Robertson, Leanne McGrath and Narelle Schreenan, the best placed, finishing sixth with a score of 41.
