Success for Aiken and Attackamach

Avenel trainer David Aiken and exciting Shepparton-trained pacer Attackamach continued their current hot runs with wins at the Tabcorp Park, Melton, meeting on Friday night.

Avenel trainer David Aiken and exciting Shepparton-trained pacer Attackamach continued their current hot runs with wins at the Tabcorp Park, Melton, meeting on Friday night.

Aiken produced a training double at the meeting, winning with Atlas Alliance and Composed, while the Dave Farrar-trained and Nathan Jack-driven Attackamach continued his winning streak.

Aiken drove Atlas Alliance to an effortless win in an MO or better class race, cruising to the line nearly 10m clear of the runner-up Arber with Winnies Central third.

The Aiken-trained and Chris Alford-driven Composed completed the Aiken stable double later in the program with an effortless win in an M1-2 class race.

The win broke a run of 16 outs away from the winner’s circle for Composed, with his last win coming at a Bendigo meeting in April last year.

Four-year-old Mach Three gelding Attackamach stretched his winning streak to six and notched his fourth successive win since his return to the racetrack with a commanding performance in the Victorian Harness Racing Sports Club Provincial Cup final.

Urged to the front early by Nathan Jack, Attackamach absorbed a lot of pressure throughout the 2240m race, but proved up to the challenge in emphatic fashion.

He had 5m to spare over the runner-up Mad House at the finishing line and zipped home his last half in an impressive 56.9 seconds with a 28.3 final quarter.

Attackamach, who missed most of his three-year-old career through injury, has now won his only four starts as a four-year-old after scoring successive wins as a three-year-old before being forced onto the sidelines.

Farrar said the long-range plan at this stage was the Vicbred Super Series and the Breeders Crown.

‘‘I’ve really got nothing immediately planned for him at the moment,’’ Farrar said.

Chris Lang Jr claimed third placing in Friday night’s feature race at Melton, the $50000 V L Dullard Trotters Cup, with veteran mare Miss Warbucks.

New Zealander Vulcan, the short-priced favourite, won the race in effortless style from another New Zealander, Stylish Monarch and Miss Warbucks.

Trainer Dave Farrar with four-year-old Attackamach, who won his sixth straight race on Friday night at Melton.
