A field of 11 thoroughbreds are in the mix for one of Victoria’s premier country cup events this weekend.

There is no-one for the locals to barrack for in this year’s race, so 1998 winner David Bourne-trained Final Tempo will remain the last local horse to take home the prize for at least another year.
The main race’s sponsor Darley has two hopes among the entries, six-year-old Chasse and four-year-old Proverb, both trained by Peter Snowden.
Five-year-old The Great Snowman will run for trainer Gai Waterhouse with a last-start third in the Group Three JRA Cup, having won at Moonee Valley the start prior.
This year’s Bairnsdale Cup winner Road Trippin’, whose trainer Stephen Theodore won the Benalla Cup the same day with Flying Hussler, is also entered.

Seymour Racing Club chief executive Penny Reeve encouraged everyone to come out and enjoy the day.
‘‘People should come along have great day out. The weather is looking fantastic, there’s going to be some really good horses and obviously trainers and jockeys here,’’ she said.
‘‘The Fashions on the Field is going to be huge, there’s about $3500 in prizes over all fashion categories.’’
Five fashion categories have been established and will be awarded to Racegoer of the Year, Young Racegoer, Most Glamourous Duo, Best Hat and Junior Racegoer of the Day.
Last year’s The Voice finalist Cam Tapp will be playing on the front lawn throughout the day, and there will be kids’ entertainment including a jumping castle, animal nursery, rides and face painting.
‘‘And most importantly the weather looks like its going to be pretty good,’’ Reeve said.
