Tatura horse No Prior Knowledge has been named Swan Hill's horse of the year.By Hannah Driscoll
Trainer Kevin Evans doesn’t know what it is, but there is something about the Swan Hill track that No Prior Knowledge seems to like.
The six-year-old Tatura-trained mare has been named Horse of the Year for Swan Hill season 2012-13 after her success there in the past racing year.
Points were awarded to the first three finishers in races at the track, with four points for a win, two for second and one point for third.
No Prior Knowledge picked up 12 points for the season to beat the Darren Weir-trained Island Bar by three points.
She had four starts in Swan Hill for two wins and two seconds.
Weir was Swan Hill’s Trainer of the Year and Dean Yendall won Jockey of the Year.
Apprentice jockey Jye McNeil, a Kerang local who rode No Prior Knowledge in all four starts, is the club’s Apprentice Jockey of the Year.
‘‘I don’t even have to give him any instructions on how to ride her, he knows what the deal is, how and what,’’ Evans said.
No Prior Knowledge has been a consistent performer in her 32 starts, with five wins, six seconds and four thirds seeing her finish in the top three on almost half of her races.
Her career earnings total just less than $59
‘‘She’s not very big, she’s a tryer and she’s been a good buy for $1000,’’ Evans said.
No Prior Knowledge’s first win at Swan Hill last season was on March
Her next start was a second across 1300
No Prior Knowledge ran fourth at Sandown last start and is entered in race nine at Benalla on Tuesday.
Evans said this may be her last racing season if she was going to be a brood mare, but would discuss that further with the owners.
