Rochester Football Club president Max Hann had not seen the email Echuca sent to the Tigers on Wednesday night when the Riv spoke to him yesterday.

He said Rochester had applied for the Easter match, as many other clubs had, and the club did not stipulate who it played.

‘‘Rochester didn’t bring all of this up, that Echuca and Mansfield were getting all the Easter Saturday games,’’ he said.

‘‘As far as I’m aware other clubs in the league said, and Rochester doesn’t disagree with this, that it (Easter Saturday) should be shared equally because they’ve (Echuca and Mansfield) always had the games.

‘‘The league are the pushers behind this.’’

Hann said the club had already made plans for the match and moving the game to April 6 would have huge ramifications.

‘‘Financially it would be a disaster,’’ he said.

‘‘A lot of the other leagues haven’t started yet, like the Heathcote league, and we’ll be able to attract those people to come into the game to watch.’’

Plans of running buses or even a train from Echuca are just some of the ideas being raised by the club.

Former club president Darren Gledhill was more outspoken on the issue.

‘‘They’ve (Echuca) had a great slice of the pie,’’ he said.

‘‘The league and the delegates in all their wisdom voted on the draw and unfortunately we live in a society and you have a delegated forum and they all vote.

‘‘Let us have our moment of glory and play Easter Saturday.’’

But Gledhill was not against Echuca and Rochester each hosting a match on Easter Saturday.

‘‘I think that would work. We could play Kyabram and they could play Tatura,’’ he said.
