Midweek minor premier Moama will face Deniliquin in the first semi-final at Deniliquin RSL on Friday.

The team coasted through the 2012-13 season to record 11 wins, but had a late hiccup against City of Echuca to lose 85-59 in round 13 — its only loss of the season.

But Deniliquin is no easy beat, having won its four games this year to register eight wins and four losses for the season.

Deniliquin’s last loss was against Moama in the final round before Christmas, losing 78-54.

The winner will advance to the grand final on February 22, while the loser will face the victor of the knockout semi-final between City of Echuca and Rich River.

Moama match committee chair person Bev Trengove said she was hoping for a strong display on Friday.

‘‘You always go into the final with belief,’’ she said.

‘‘We’re going in very strong this year, the same with our division two team.’’

Trengove said the loss against City of Echuca was a wake-up call.

‘‘We all had quite bad bowls that day,’’ she said.

‘‘I think that boosted Echuca’s morals, but everyone can win a game and everyone can lose a game.’’

Echuca’s shock 70-55 loss to Rochester in round 13 was forgotten when the team upset Moama the following round.

Echuca women’s chairperson Pat Schram said the division one side was looking forward to the final.

‘‘We like a challenge,’’ she said.

‘‘We’re going to be concentrating on putting our best foot forward and look for more success.

‘‘We know what winning tastes like.’’

Echuca won last season’s midweek pennant championship from third and Schram said there was no reason the team could not do it again.

‘‘We have the self-belief and I think we’re coming into form,’’ she said.

Echuca will face fourth-placed Rich River, a side it tied 69-all with in round eight.
