B grade

Moama is in a good position to push for the win against Echuca in their B grade clash after setting a target of 211.

Opener Quade Albert led the way for the home side, making 70 before being run out as he and Mark Scholes (33) put on 93 runs for the second wicket.

Brandt Gladman also chipped in with 25, while Steve Plumridge tore through the Moama line-up to take 5/67.

Tyson Russell also took 3/48 as Echuca finished the day on 0/8.

■Girgarre is in prime position to gain first innings points against Rochester United after bowling the visitors out for 123.

Brett Hughes (4/50) and M McReady (3/24) were the best bowlers, while Craig Williams stood tall for United to make 50.

In its reply, Girgarre was 4/99 with Matt Hughes (7 not out) and Michael Coyne (15 not out) at the crease, while Ash Hughes had earlier scored 25.

Sam Frawley had taken 3/21 for United.

■Riley O’Neill enjoyed a terrific return to Echuca South’s B grade team, scoring 109 in its match against Tongala.

O’Neill enjoyed a 76-run third-wicket partnership with Jim Geltch (24) as the team made 201 for the day, with only two other batsmen reaching double figures.

Simon Greiner (2/4), Lucas Hughes (2/52) and Brendan McGrath (2/59) were the Blues’ best bowlers.

■Fire Brigade looks likely to defeat Bamawm-Lockington United after a good first day’s play on Saturday.

The visiting side was bowled out for 198 after good knocks from Corey Carver (54) and Nic Casey (46) and had BLU struggling at 4/50 at stumps.

Paddy Gardiner (3/14) and Joel Felmingham (3/57) did the damage for the home side earlier, while Steven Grima had 3/14 by the end of play for the Flames.

■The final match of the round sees Cooma hosting Rochester Tigers in an even battle.

Led by Andrew Ciavarella (46) and Michael Mackenzie-Ross (26), the home side scored 142, with the Tigers 1/12 in reply.

Mick Haisman (3/15) and Chirag Patel (3/25) did the damage for the visiting side with the ball.

C grade

Max Beard smashed his fourth C grade century of the season and second against Echuca South, as he and Jason Gould — who snared a hat-trick — helped Echuca to a 140-run win.

Beard recorded his highest score of the season at Echuca College, striking 21 boundaries and four sixes in his knock of 136 and was only dismissed on the third-last ball of the innings.

Rod Perry also scored 56 not out as the team finished on 2/211.

An undermanned Swans side finished all out for 71, with only Singh Simranpal (31) and Will Rolfe (19) reaching double figures.

Gould took the hat-trick to reduce South to its last wicket and he finished with the imposing figures of 5/3 from six overs in Echuca’s comfortable win.

■Andrew Melverton scored his second ton in four weeks as he guided Girgarre to a 111-run win against Moama.

Melverton struck 18 boundaries and one six in his 104-run innings, while Lee Kempinski (47) and David Asquith (32) helped the team reach 245 despite the efforts of Jacob Brammer, who took 4/20.

Brammer also top-scored for the home side with 47, but Moama was bowled out for 134, with Asquith taking 3/31.

■An 89 to Brett Bunfield and a run-a-ball 61 to Lachy West helped Stanhope to a 62-run win against Rochester United in C grade on Saturday.

Stanhope made 8/211 from its 40 overs before bowling United out for 149.

Brendan Avis had earlier taken 3/40 for United, before Andrew Purdy (32) and Luke Bonnett (30) tried to push their team towards the target.

■Rushworth won a thrilling match against Rochester Tigers by two runs.

Led by Peter Raglus (61) and Peter Francis (44 not out), the home side finished with 4/191, before restricting the Tigers to 9/189 after its 40 overs, with David Chillingsworth (3/48) and Brandon Flory (3/41) the key wicket-takers.

■The final match saw Bamawm-Lockington United comfortably defeat Bunnaloo by six wickets.

Playing at Lockington Primary School, Bunnaloo was held to 9/148 from its 40 overs despite Darren Wright’s (67) best efforts, as Jake Arnott took 3/32.

Nick Roffey led the charge for the home side to finish on 68 not out as BLU reached the target with just less than five overs remaining. Wright took 3/17 for the visitors.

D grade

Fire Brigade enjoyed a convincing 112-run win away against Rochester Tigers in D grade in a strong all-round performance.

Tim Dunne (54 not out), Damien Varcoe (31) and Alan Gascoyne (39 not out) led the way to the team’s 9/197, despite the efforts of Nick Kellow (3/23).

In their reply, the Tigers were bowled out for 85 with Mal McLeod making 23.

Scott Fleming (3/9) and Sean Davison (3/16) were the best bowlers.

■Echuca scraped to a two-wicket win against Cooma on Saturday despite the best efforts of Paul Viney.

Viney finished on 90 not out as Cooma made 5/152 from its 35 overs, before Echuca won the match in the final over, led by Tim Hawker (31) and Brandon Byrne (30 not out).

Mark Tenace took 4/14 for Cooma in a fine performance.

■Girgarre survived a late scare to defeat Stanhope by two wickets in a low-scoring game.

Justin Wickham took 4/22 as Girgarre restricted Stanhope to 112, before the home side made the runs with seven overs to spare, despite Bernie Anderson’s 4/10.

James Mackenzie-Ross was the highest scorer on the day with 21.

Under 16s

Hayden Favaloro took a hat-trick and Lachy Thompson took 6/9 as Echuca South defeated Rochester United outright in the under 16s last round.

United batted first and made 55, before South made 9/124 from 25 overs, with Patrick Furley (22) and Cody Johns-Willett (21) top scoring.

Thompson and Favaloro then combined to bowl out United for 22 in the second innings, confirming the 47-run win.

■Moama White eased to a comfortable 55-run win against Colbinabbin.

Moama restricted the away side to 8/51 from its 20 overs, before the team made 4/106, with Jake Toll (31 retired) and Jamie Thompson (24) playing well.

■Fire Brigade was too good for Rochester Tigers, winning by 100 runs.

Liam McDonell (59) and Jake Gascoyne (40) helped the team to 150, before the Tigers were bowled out for 50.

Gascoyne was the leading wicket-taker with 3/6.

■The final match saw Moama Black win a close match against Tongala.

A Jack Elliott (51 retired) half-century guided Moama to 8/112 from its 40 overs, with Dawid Van Tubbergh (18) the only other batsman to reach double figures, before holding the home side to 9/93 with Dan Newton (27) and Charlie Lowe (17 not out) trying hard.

■Echuca defeated Bamawm-Lockington United on forfeit.

Under 14s

Echuca recorded a comfortable 55-run win against Tongala in the under 14s despite the home team’s best efforts.

The Blues made 84 in its innings, led by Bailey Cox (28) and Ryley Cowley (20), before Echuca finished with 9/139.

Cox (2/14), Cowley (2/20) and Alec Maguire (2/11) were the best bowlers.

■Rochester United enjoyed a 52-run win at home to Cooma-Girgarre last round.

Brad Hocking (23), Brenton Brasier (19) and Sam Langley (24 retired) saw Cooma-Girgarre make 5/122, before United replied with 6/174.

Ben Briggs (31 retired), Paul Brian (28 retired) and Aaron Juffs (25 not out) were the top scorers.

■Stanhope-Rushworth won a close match against Echuca South.

The visiting side batted first and made 107, despite the efforts of Wade Murray (3/8) and Jack Moar (2/24).

In the Swans’ reply, Clayton Thompson finished on 37 not out as the team was bowled out for 88.

■Moama White had a big win against Bamawm-Lockington United after bowling it out for 16.

Clayton Scott took 3/3, Darcy Elliott (2/1), Lachy Devlin (2/2) and Tex Dargan (2/2) during the innings, before Moama made 5/111, with Scott retiring on 27 and Devlin retiring on 20.

■The final match saw Fire Brigade prevail in a close contest against Moama Black.

The Flames batted first and made 6/122, thanks to knocks of 21 retired and 20 retired to Jake Gascoyne and Colby McDonald respectively.

In its reply, Moama Black fell just short to finish on 9/113, with James Humphries taking 3/8.
