Mathoura twins feel the need for speed
Bryce and Kane Horne were buoyed by their run in the sub-junior social class on Saturday during Southern 80 action.
By Zach HubberMathoura twins Bryce and Kane Horne were bouncing around the banks of Victoria Park boat ramp on Saturday afternoon after a positive run in the sub-junior social class.
The duo stepped up to the class after racing with the tadpoles under 10s last year, finishing eighth with a time of 13 minutes and 13 seconds.
Each Horne was quick to butt in over the other, much was their delight with the run.
‘‘Really good’’ was how they both described the experience.
But Kane’s mind was more focused on Sunday’s challenge.
‘‘The real race is tomorrow (Sunday), 80km,’’ Kane said.
‘‘It’s a bigger challenge,’’ Bryce said.
The Hornes raced behind the Craig Nicholls-driven Electric Shock on Sunday but did not finish.
It was the first year the 11-year-olds have skied together and the energy at Torrumbarry Weir was ecstatic as both urged their observer, Russell Nicholls, to go faster before either was fully upright on their skis.
