Saturday’s Goulburn Murray Cricket A grade results saw Rochester Tigers suffer another agonising defeat, this time at the hands of Tongala at home.

The visitors finished the first innings at 8/217, with captain Adam Nunn (74) and Ben Scowen (58) combining for a 127-run partnership to help the side to a strong total.

Tigers captain Grant Wachter was the pick of the bowlers with 4/53, while openers Tim Maxfield (30) and Adam Ward (92) had the home team flying in the second innings, combining for 79 runs before Maxfield’s dismissal.

The Tigers’ desperation was evident as the game wore on, with the final four dismissals all run outs as the side finished all out for 215 after needing nine runs in the final over.

■ Bamawm-Lockington United made Fire Brigade earn its 12 points, going down to the Kyabram and District Cricket Association reigning premiers by 12 runs.

Andrew Kent (76) helped set up the Flames first innings total of 6/200, while Tom Paganoni snared three wickets for BLU.

Greg Pearse top scored with 82, his highest total since November 2009, but his side was unable to reach the required total.

Jake Toll (3/21) was the leading wicket-taker for Moama, while Michael Buckley’s 30 runs was the highest among the Bunnaloo batsmen.

Moama openers Ralph Siede (46) and James Alcorn (43 not out) helped the side set up a comfortable victory, finishing the game in the 20th over.

■ Rochester United joined Moama, Tongala and Fire Brigade in the undefeated category when it defeated Stanhope by 68 runs.

Jake Perry was brilliant with the bat and ball, making 65 runs in the first innings and then taking 5/33 in the second.

United captain Dylan Cuttriss (42) was also impressive with the bat, while Stanhope bowler Alec Young took three wickets for his side.

Young and Brad Lowe combined for a 72-run stand for Stanhope, but three consecutive ducks to Craig Emmett, James Mensfeld and Zac Dearing saw the side slump to its third straight loss.
