Echuca to play Fire Brigade in final
Echuca will take on Fire Brigade in the Goulburn Murray Cricket grand final.
By Zach HubberThe rivalry between Echuca and Fire Brigade is set to continue when the two sides meet in the Goulburn Murray Cricket B grade final on the weekend.
Echuca won through to the final after defeating Echuca South by 135 runs in yesterday’s preliminary final at Echuca South Recreation Reserve.
Echuca set South 200 for victory on day one, only to dismiss the Swans for 64 in the 48th over on day two.
Darcy Wilson was South’s only batsman to register double figures with 33 as his side struggled to find a strong partnership throughout the day.
South lost its last five wickets without score, as Echuca bowlers Jason Carlile and James McQuillan each took three wickets to tear through their opposition.
Matt Giorgianni (3/14) and Ben Eade (3/41) impressed with the ball for South on Saturday, but it seemed in vain come the completion of the match.

The Flames’ Martin Byrne (3/9) and Nathan O’Donnell (3/48) did the damage on day one as the home side crumbled to be all out for 108 in the 67th over.
Girgarre responded positively when Wade Summers dismissed Rikki Busch for a duck.
Fellow opener Michael Mott (9) fell 30 runs later and the visitors were 3/32.
But it was not to be for Girgarre as Corey Carver brought up his second straight half-century (61 not out), combining with Mick Perrella (33 not out) for an 80-run partnership to guide the Flames to victory.
