Easy run to tennis grand final up for grabs
Rich River and Lockington-Bamawm United face off tomorrow, with the winner moving through to the Campaspe Tennis Association grand final.
By Geordie CowanRich River and Lockington-Bamawm United will vie for the right to go straight into the Campaspe Tennis Association grand final when they meet at Rochester tomorrow.
Rich River disposed of Echuca Lawn last week to ensure it kept the top spot, while LBU accounted for Echuca South to ensure the second semi-final berth.
The two Rochester teams will play each other for the second week in succession in the elimination semi-final and Rochester 1 will hold a distinct advantage after besting Rochester 2 8-87 to 5-69 in the final round of competition last week.
The loser of the Rich River v LBU clash will play the winning Rochester team at Echuca Lawn next week.
■
Rich River finished 19 points clear of the second-placed team, who finished just three points ahead of Echuca Village — the danger team of the section — after it had a bye.
Village will face Echuca South 3 in the first semi-final, despite late-season challenges from Echuca South 4 and Colbinabbin 1 to grab the final spot after both finished just three points shy of South 3.
■
The form guide would suggest LBU and South will prove too difficult to overcome for their respective oppositions, but finals can produce some strange results.
■
Elmore 2 will face LBU 5 in the second semi-final, while both LBU 3 and Elmore 1 enjoyed good wins last week.
In the under 13s, second semi-final combatants Echuca South 7 and Colbinabbin 4 will both go into the match with confidence after enjoying solid wins last week, while Echuca South 6 and Colbinabbin 3 must rebound from losses.
