Cranny chasing fifth straight Southern 80
Mark Cranny will be hoping he can claim his fifth straight Southern 80 win this weekend.

Hellrazor driver Mark Cranny, will be out to claim his fifth straight Southern 80 title and eighth overall when he teams up with observer Damien Matthews and skiers Jason Walmsley and Peter Proctor this weekend.
Winning never gets old for Cranny, who said his philosophy in life was to never look behind him, but always look ahead.
‘‘You’ve always got a sense of anticipation with what’s going to happen or how it’s all going to unfold, but we race every second weekend of the year so it’s just another race,’’ he said.
‘‘I try not to make too much of it, even though it means a lot to the team.’’
Moama Water Sports Club president Steve Robson said everything was on track for the weekend.
‘‘The area’s looking sensational down here (Victoria Park Boat Ramp) at the moment, so it should make for a good weekend,’’ he said.
‘‘It’s sort of like the Bathurst of ski racing, it’s one of the longest courses and the tightest bends, it’s just a great course to get down to.’’
Robson backed Hellrazor to succeed again, but said 99 Psycho Clowns and three other boats could buck the trend and take the title.
