Bowlers enjoy a hat-trick of hat-tricks
Bryce McDonald and Todd Murphy each scored hat-tricks recently in Goulburn Murray Cricket matches.
By Geordie CowanGoulburn Murray Cricket is enjoying a wealth of hat-tricks in the new competition.
Bryce McDonald is the latest player to join the club, claiming the last three wickets of the C grade Fire Brigade win against Echuca South on Saturday.
The 17-year-old has history in achieving dramatic results with the ball, having claimed 9/3 in an under 17 match in February last year.
McDonald’s hat-trick follows on from the success of Moama White under 14 player Todd Murphy.
Playing Rochester Tigers on November 22, the 12-year-old took his hat-trick in the third over of the day as the team successfully defended a total of 100.
His wickets came from a catch at first slip and two bowled dismissals and he finished with 5/4, describing it as ‘‘pretty good’’.
These two performances come on the back of the remarkable figures of Fire Brigade D grade cricketer Scott Fleming, who secured the extremely rare achievement of a double-hat-trick during his superb spell of 9/11.
