Sonic Racing skier falls during main race

Racing did not quite go according to plan for Echuca’s Neil Donald on Sunday when he drove Sonic Racing in the unlimited inboard expert class.

After passing a boat whose skier had gone into the water, the next left-hand turn saw one of Neil’s skier fall into the water.

After that it was a matter of finding the right time to get both his skiers up and running again while not ruining any one else’s race.

‘‘Until then we’d been going well,’’ Neil said.

‘‘We expected Hellbent to catch us...but it was a bit disappointing.’’

However, Neil thought it had been a great weekend overall.

‘‘It’s been fantastic,’’ he said.

‘‘The weather’s been perfect, not too hot, no rain.

‘‘Unfortunately (there were) a couple of accidents yesterday, but other than that I think it’s been going all right.’’
