Bamawm-Lockington United has now finished its A and B grade seasons as the club has the bye next week and both teams are placed fifth.
BLU captain Greg Pearse said he was pleased with the season considering the players who were available each week.
‘‘It wasn’t too bad,’’ he said
‘‘We probably just missed out on finals again.
‘‘For the side we had we didn’t do too bad.
‘‘We’ve just got to take our chances when they come and that’s probably why we missed finals again.’’
Pearse said with so many changes being made to both A and B grade teams each week, the team lacked the stability needed to constantly improve.
‘‘We were changing too many players each week,’’ he said.
‘‘The side we had actually didn’t do too bad.
‘‘It was disappointing, but you can only deal with what you’ve got.
‘‘We’ll build on it again for next year.’’
Ben Docking was one of the stand out players for the side throughout the season, Pearse said.
‘‘Ben Docking had a really good year,’’ he said.
‘‘A few of the guys that didn’t play every game, the young guys, they stepped up a bit as well.’’
Pearse thought the team could challenge to be among the top teams again next season, but would need to have a consistent side.
‘‘Next year we might get a few players back, which would help us a lot,’’ he said.
‘‘We’ve just got to get to that level next season.’’
Pearse also identified batting as an area which needed improvement.
‘‘Our bowling has been quite good, but our batting has been our biggest downfall for the season,’’ he said.
‘‘We’ve got to improve by another 15 per cent next year and .
The club will now support it’s C grade side, which is favourite for the title.’’
