Hayden’s Heroes has won Echuca Table Tennis Association’s winter competition defeating Preliminary Findings, 6-5, in a close grand final.
Tim Jeffreson and Tilmann Sauer won two singles each for the victors and Hayden Favaloro picked up one, plus an important doubles point playing with Jeffreson.
After Sauer and Favaloro had beaten their respective number two and three opponents, Darren Short and Richard Ham, in the first round of singles matches, the side was in a good position.
However, the title could still have gone either way coming into the second doubles match.
Jeffreson and Favaloro came through it in four close sets against Ash Button and Ham to leave them needing just one point from the final round of singles, which Jeffreson achieved.
Preliminary Findings’ Ash Button retained his unbeaten singles record for the season with three straight sets wins and Thomas Bryans received the most improved player award for the winter competition.
