Echuca Racing Club will hold an eight-race meet today.
In the club’s final meet before Melbourne Cup day, the first horses will leave the gates at 1pm with the final race at 5.05pm.
ERC chief executive Alex Doble said today’s fields represented a great line-up of country class animals.
‘‘The track’s in great order and will more than likely present as a dead (4),’’ he said.
‘‘The fields speak well not only for our race program but the track as well.’’
With just less than a month to go until the biggest day on the racing calendar, Doble said the club was building nicely.
‘‘We have been really well supported by local businesses with pre-sales for the marquees,’’ he said.
‘‘We have one eye on (tomorrow), but after that both eyes are firmly on Melbourne Cup day.
‘‘It should be a cracking day and we’re really looking forward to it.’’
