Chris Kadri was overjoyed to have got his first hole-in-one on New Year's Day.GEORDIE COWAN January 3, 2014 4:47am
Echuca’s Chris Kadri will not forget the date of his first hole-in-one anytime soon — recording it on New Year’s Day.
Kadri could not see the pin from the tee on the fourth hole of the west course at Rich River Golf Club, so when he saw it fly towards the green, he thought it was a good shot and nothing more.
Arriving at the green, he could not find the ball on or at the back of the green, so as he walked back he told his playing partners Alan Davidson and Mahir Odzilek, ‘‘I reckon I’ve got a hole-in-one’’.
‘‘So I walked over to the hole, looked down and pulled it out and everyone just burst out laughing,’’ he said.
Having played golf for about 30 years, the Rich River member was given golf lessons by his wife for his birthday in August.
‘‘I had my first lesson with Ben Patten last Sunday and he told me to just play as often as I could,’’ he said.
‘‘So when Mahir called me up asked me to play ... everything just fell into place.’’
