Wind wreaks havoc
The Deniliquin Triathlon Club training session at McLean Beach was a tough gig on Wednesday night with strong head winds making for choppy water and a tough bike leg.
The tail wind on the way home, however, caused some fast times, particularly for Tom Druitt and Graeme Butcher who clocked 18.12min and 19.22min respectively.
John Trist made a quick appearance between meetings and put in a solid effort in the swim leg.
Young guns Jordyn McCulloch and Michaela Tranby impressed with their run times 13.44min and 13.39min in the sprint course.
The standout in the short course was Tomas Sarras, who was first across the line, followed closely by Gabrielle McKindlay and Georgia Small.
Cameron Crockart was next and considering he is still in primary school he should prove a formidable force in the future.
Visitor to town Sarah McDonald put in a gutsy performance after she had a fall on the bike in what was her first time in cleats. She dusted herself off, got back in the saddle and completed all three disciplines.
All newcomers are welcome to attend triathlon training at McLean Beach from 6pm each Wednesday.
