RSL wins three from four
Mark Quor led his rink to a high-scoring victory on Saturday.
Deniliquin RSL Club’s Division 2 team travelled to Lockington for Round 5 of Campaspe Valley Bowls Association on Saturday.
Three of the four rinks recorded wins to give the visiting RSL team a good result.
Ken Wellard and his side won 18 out of the 25 ends to win by 17 shots (28-11). All four RSL bowlers contributed at different stages of the match.
In a high-scoring game Mark Quor’s team won by four shots (35-31). This rink boasted four six-shot winning ends, three of them going to the Quor’s men.
Ron Marchetti’s side also won a close game, 26-23. This rink was split between the two sides with Lockington winning nine out 10 in the early stages and RSL winning 10 of the last 12 ends.
In the final rink, Rod Reid’s men lost by 15 shots (15-30). Reid’s opposition was skippered by highly decorated bowler and previous club champion on more then 20 occasions, Roy Perks, who was in brilliant form.
Final score, Deniliquin RSL 104 to Lockington 95.
