Giants back on court.

The Deniliquin McDonald's Giants play their first game of 2013 this Sunday.

After a few weeks off over the Christmas break, the Deniliquin McDonald’s Giants take on the Maryborough Blazers in round 12 of the Country Basketball League on Sunday.

The Giants sit at the bottom of the ladder, having failed to win a game so far.

Unfortunately, they will be without coach Mick Everett (quadricep), Anthony Matthews (calf) and Adam Bodey (work).

‘‘Due to the injuries we’ll be taking a slightly smaller line-up over to Maryborough but there is some positives as well,’’ Everett said.

‘‘It will be a good chance for younger players like Matt Howitt and Tjunda Keefe to step up and have some extended game time, which is what they’ve been working for all season.

‘‘Another positive is that we’ll have Tommy Edwards, Matt Johnson and Jordan Glanville all playing in the same team for the first time.

‘‘All three of them play as point guards and they will give us some great ball control.

‘‘We’re expecting to be pretty good defensively against Maryborough.’’

The match starts at 2pm at the Maryborough Sports & Leisure Centre.
