Juniors and Globe are both undefeated after round three of Deniliquin’s Super 8 Big Bash was played on Friday evening at Memorial Park.
If both sides win their respective matches tonight, they will play-off in the following round next Friday to determine the winner of the five-week competition.
Juniors did enough to hold out rival RSL/West in their round three encounter.
Opening bat Kynan McKenzie hit three sixes to top score with 28 for Juniors, who set the Cannons a gettable 100 runs for victory.
RSL/West stumbled to 4/15 and, despite an impressive knock of 34 from young gun Brenton Loudon, was bowled out for 75.
Seam bowler Trevor Briggs snared 3/7 from his two overs.
A swashbuckling half century from Troy Bartlett saw Globe post its highest score of 149 from 14 overs against Rams.
Bartlett plundered five fours and three sixes with support from Aaron Thorpe (17) and Rob Resuggan (35).
In reply the Rams were never really in the hunt. Thorpe snared 3/5 from his two overs and bowled the dangerous Josh Whelan for his second golden duck of the series.
The Rams were bundled out for 94 with Jack Tyndall hitting 29 runs mostly with his eyes closed.
The match of the night was actually between Wakool and Rovers, with the latter sneaking home by the smallest of margins for their first win of the series.
Jason Kerr was the hero for Rovers with an unbeaten half century. He hit four sixes on his way to 61 as his side posted 114 in total.
In reply, Wakool needed four runs with three wickets in hand but was bowled out for 113. Paceman Josh Bode cleaned up the Wakool tail.
