Deniliquin's Max Huddle selected for invitational tournament

Deniliquin’s Max Huddle has been invited by the Victorian Golf Croquet selection committee to play in the first of two selection invitational tournaments at Cairnlea in March.

Deniliquin’s Max Huddle has been invited by the Victorian Golf Croquet selection committee to play in the first of two selection invitational tournaments at Cairnlea in March.

The tournaments are designed to assist in selecting the golf croquet team to represent Victoria in the Interstate Shield in 2012.

Deniliquin Croquet Club publicity officer Gwen Pearn said it was an honour for Max and the club to receive the invitation.

‘‘The club wishes Max every success.’’

Twelve players took to the Charlotte St courts for Sunday’s competition.

Dot Murphy was the only three-game winner with 26 hoops. Great to see Dot on the courts and playing so well.

On Wednesday last week, 15 players lined up for golf croquet.

Two players won their three games.

Heather Douglas won the day on a countback from Neville Munro, both with 24 hoops. Mary James was runner-up with 22.

Anyone is welcome to come try croquet on either a Wednesday or Sunday from 8.30am at the Charlotte St lawn courts.
