Pre-season for the Deniliquin Rams Netball Club’s junior program starts this Thursday at 5pm.

Rams netball co-ordinator Shannon Williams welcomes all budding netballers to the start of the season which, this year, will take a different format.

‘‘The under 12s will begin pre-season training this Thursday, but we won’t be doing any formal try-outs for the team,’’ Williams said.

‘‘We have appointed Margaret Blake as the 2012 coach and she is very keen to run an introduction to netball program rather than asking the players to show up and play a ‘try-out game’, which can be very overwhelming for a junior player.’’

Williams said foundation skills would be the focus of the program.

‘‘Deb Howe had a great amount of success with the under 12s last year but nearly all of those players will progress to other grades this year.

‘‘There are quite a few families at the club with daughters and we would love to see them playing for Rams.

‘‘We are also hoping that new players will come down as well.”

All young girls, aged from seven to 11 years are welcome to attend on Thursday. Any questions about Rams netball should be directed to Williams on 5881 3023.
