Deniliquin lady bowlers in semi finals

The Deniliquin Bowling Club ladies enjoyed mixed fortunes in the final round of the Campaspe Valley pennant home-and-away season on Friday. Division One finished with a win while Division Two lost to ladder leader Moama.

The Deniliquin Bowling Club ladies enjoyed mixed fortunes in the final round of the Campaspe Valley pennant home-and-away season on Friday.

Division One finished with a win while Division Two lost to ladder leader Moama.

The ‘ones’ travelled to Ky Valley View, returning home victors by 20 shots, 75 to 55, with two winning rinks.

Jean Sartoria, Vicki O’Keefe, Aileen Kennedy and skipper Jill Grimshaw enjoyed a great 31-11 win.

Loris Yates, Lyn Smith, Betty McCarthy and skipper Fay Munnerley won by 14 shots, 27-13.

Joyce Hay’s team of Brenda Leetham, Robyn Little and Louise Begg failed to complete the trifecta, losing out by 14 shots, 17-31.

Division Two played Moama on foreign greens, going down 61-71.

Gwen Mitchell, Josie Jackson, Joy Mann and skipper Joyce May got up by seven shots, 24-17.

Also enjoying a win was Joan Gamble, Colin Knuckey, Helen Anderson and skipper Joy McArthur, 23-19.

Lorna Breen, Caryn Hillier, Bev Renwick and skipper Barb Berry lost by 21 shots, 14-35.

This week will see the semi-finals in action, all of which will be played in Deniliquin on Friday.

Spectators can be assured of witnessing some fine bowling. Play commences at 10 am.

Both division one and two sides will play on Deniliquin RSL greens.

Teams, Division 1 vs Moama: L Smith, D McCulloch, B McCarthy, L Freeman (s); V O’Keefe, A Kennedy, F Munnerley, J Grimshaw (s); B Leetham, R Little, L Begg, J Hay (s).

Division 2 vs City of Echuca: J Sartoria, L Yates, H Anderson, J McArthur (s); G Mitchell, M King, J Mann, J May (s); C Hillier, J Jackson, B Renwick, B Berry (s). Emergencies - J Gamble and L Breen.

● Practice is at the RSL greens on Tuesday and Thursday at 4pm. Please do your best to attend.

The two day tournament, which will be held on March 6 and 7, is fast approaching and local entries for both days are still being accepted - speak with Joyce May.

Also, a special congratulations to Linda Freeman on winning the 100-up handicap event last Thursday.

Linda defeated Robyn Little in a game of beautiful draw bowling. Well done Linda.
