Annual fishing comp fast approaching

Keen anglers ready for big weekend of fishing in Cobram-Barooga

Cobram-Barooga Angling Feast Fishing Competition is fast approaching.

The event will be at Barooga’s Quicks Beach on Saturday, February 25.

Registration opens at 4pm on Friday, February 24 with a barbecue dinner from 6pm to 8.30pm.

Keen fishermen can take to the water from 6am on Saturday until noon on Sunday, February 26.

Entry fees for adults is $90, which includes one free ticket into the major boat raffle, free drink vouchers, souvenir stubby holder and all meals. Categories include mystery length Murray cod, biggest Murray cod, biggest golden perch, biggest carp, outstanding angler, stiffest award.

Quicks Beach will be open from Friday noon for camping on grassed beach areas until Sunday night.

Fishing will be between Murray River Bridge and Thong Beach.

The main weigh-in station will be located at Quicks Beach with brag mats, but you must supply your own quality digital camera or phone.

All proceeds from this major catch-and-release event go towards re-stocking the Murray River. Cobram-Barooga Apex Club, Cobram-Barooga Fishing Club and Yarroweyah Football Club also benefit.
