Tate wins first ever title

Benalla's Tate Vaivads picked up his maiden tournament win at the weekend.

Tennis up-and-comer Tate Vaivads has shown he is definitely one to watch, taking out his first ever tournament — the Wodonga Sportspower Tour Singles regional tournament for under-10 boys.

Tate cruised through his semi-final, winning the best-of-five set 3-0, before securing the tournament title with a 6-2 win in the final.

It was his first ever tournament win.

Around 150 players from across the region, including Benalla, Albury/Wodonga, Wangaratta, Griffith and surrounding areas, turned out for the event, with more than 30 players taking the court in the under-10 division.

Tate was featured in the Ensign two weeks ago after taking part in the Grand Slam MLC Hot Shots event at Melbourne Park during the Australian Open.

Benalla's Tate Vaivads won his first ever tennis tournament at the weekend, the Wodonga Sportspower Tour Singles.
