Benalla Lawn on a roll
Benalla Lawn Tennis Club teams won all three of their weekend matches.
By Erin ByrnesSaturday saw Lawn Green take on Ramblers at home in their Section One clash.
Ramblers had beaten Green in their previous match, but this time round Lawn outplayed its younger opponents to win by 11 games.
Final scores were: Lawn Green seven sets, 82 games to Ramblers five sets 71 games.
Pip O’Donoghue and Bernie O’Halloran each won three sets.
Lawn Blue travelled to Mansfield to take on the reigning champions and in an unusual result, Lawn won by one game despite Mansfield winning more sets on the day.
Final score: Lawn Blue 5/77 to Mansfield 7/76. Faye Chaszcziwsky was the only player to win all three sets.
In Section Two, Lawn Red played host to Violet Town Navy.
Playing in perfect conditions Lawn proved too strong winning 8/82 to Violet Town 4/66.
Gavin Dykes, Andrew Bertalli and the Warrenbayne Wonder Tom Pitty won their three sets.
Reminder to any juniors who would like to play tennis, the club is running a sectional competition on Tuesday nights starting at 5
