Tongala’s mini-torpedo collects gold medal

Tongala swimmer Olivia Wright collected a gold medal at the Victorian Country Championships.

Tongala swimmer Olivia Wright has continued her excellent summer form by collecting a gold medal at the Victorian Country Championships.

Olivia, 11, won gold in the 50m butterfly at the event held at Sale over the Australia Day long weekend.

In December she won a bronze medal in the 200m individual medley and swam 11 personal best times at the Victorian Age Championships staged at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre. She trains five nights a week in Bendigo with the Bendigo Hawks Swimming Club and also does three additional fitness sessions at home. Olivia, who turns 12 in May, is continuing to work on improving her personal best times and has focusing her attention on national times.
