Kyabram Bombers defender Tom Sheldon has won the club's 2013 seniors best and fairest award.
Tom Sheldon’s stellar first season with the Bombers was rewarded with the Kyabram Football Club’s best and fairest award at the club’s presentation evening last Friday night.
The smooth-moving, long-kicking defender added the most prestigious club individual award to a premiership medallion and interleague selection in a memorable first season with the club.
He also won an award for being the best Kyabram player in the drought-breaking grand final win over Shepparton United.
Sheldon won the award from star defender Jason Morgan, who had taken the honour in the previous two seasons.
Sheldon’s season was as consistent as it was brilliant.
‘‘His first two games weren’t standouts but from then on he was in Kyabram’s best players in every game,’’ Kyabram coach Dave Williams said.
‘‘He had an unbelievable season really and, like his cousin Sam, is a quality person as well as a good footballer.
‘‘They have both fitted into our club perfectly and have all the respect of all their teammates and supporters.’’
Nelson, who made a few senior appearances, beat Jackson McLay, who played limited games, for the award.
A brother of senior star Liam, Ogden also had an unforgettable season, being part of the Paul Newman-coached Under-18 Kyabram premiership side, as well as taking a league award for the best player over the final series.
Jarryd Pertzel was runner-up.
Kirra Vick was the B grade winner, Lori Niven took the B-Reserve award, while league winner Nat Dillon claimed the Under-17 award.
Club stalwart Dale Williams took out the Best Clubman award, while the Best Junior Clubman went to irrepressible Jay DeCicco.
