Run outs proved costly in Fire Brigade's narrow first loss for the season.

Kyabram Fire Brigade suffered its first loss in Goulburn Murray Cricket this season on Saturday, but went down fighting against Rochester Tigers, another side also unbeaten going into the one-day clash.

The Flames’ batsmen, headed by skipper Daniel Kent, made a brave bid to reel in the home team’s challenging score of 5-179 but came up seven runs short.

The Brigade was 1-110 and seemingly cruising towards victory, but some poor shot choices and run outs, which included Kent for 48, proved fatal in the wash-up.

‘‘We threw it away, we should have won, but I don’t think it will do us any harm,’’ Kent said in summary.
