More action to come at racecourse

Seymour racecourse has been through a busy period recently with several racemeetings being held, but it will host something a bit different this week.

A beautiful day saw a small crowd at Thursday’s Seymour Racing Club meeting but there was some interesting racing nevertheless. Here the six-horse field all appears in with a chance in the Centrebet Fire Up Handicap (1200m) with eventual winner Sound Of The Ocean (one from the left) seemingly more interested in posing for the camera. But the half-brother to champion sprinter Hay List soon got a move on to land some big bets and nose out locally-trained Roshaca and Graceland (obscured) in a tight finish.

Meanwhile, the Australian College of Equine Podiotheraphy, a Yarck-based institution, is holding a barefoot shoeing conference this weekend, which is expected to attract up to 100 people from around Australia.

There will also be master classes tomorrow and Friday.

Cr Rhonda Sanderson said the event was yet another way the equine industry contributed economically to the Mitchell Shire.
