After three wins from seven starts Benalla harness racing trainer sells The Hen House House.December 12, 2013 4:17am
Benalla harness racing trainer Jason Ross has farewelled his four-year-old mare The Hen House after a strong season.
Ross began racing The Hen House in late June and raced seven starts with her for three wins, two seconds and a third place.
Ross said he was sad to see the horse go to her new owners in Queensland on Monday.
‘‘We’d done okay out of her .
‘‘Hopefully she’s still got a few wins in her for the new owners.’’
Ross said the decision to sell The Hen House was due to his impending move to Kialla early next year.
‘‘I’m still going to train, but we’re moving town early next year,’’ he said.
‘‘She was pretty honest all the way through her seven starts, there weren’t really any starts that were more of a highlight than others.
‘‘She was really competitive in every one we gave her.’’
The mare was owned by locals Paul Gardner, Jason Ross, Darcy Ross, Nikkita Ross and Noel Ross.
Jason Ross said while he was not racing any other horses, he hoped to get another one after he became settled at Kialla.
