Benalla Saints coach Luke Morgan says former West Coast rookie Will Sullivan has guaranteed to play six games for the Saints next year.By Monique Freer
Former West Coast rookie Will Sullivan appears set to continue playing at Benalla Saints next season.
Senior coach Luke Morgan said Sullivan guaranteed him that he would play at least six games in the red, white and black, however there was still a possibility of him playing full-time.
‘‘Will Sullivan will be playing with us next year, just the extent of the games is unknown at this stage,’’ Morgan said.
‘‘We’d like him full-time and committed and that’s still not out of the question.’’
Sullivan played three games for the Saints this year, and at 202
Sullivan was a rookie at West Coast before moving to Werribee Tigers alongside former Benalla player Will Martiniello.
Martiniello joined brother and senior captain James for one game this season, in which he and Sullivan were integral in the Saints’ round 15 win against 2012 premier Tatura.
However, Morgan said Martiniello was yet to decide about his football future.
‘‘Will Martiniello is still to make up his mind,’’ he said.
‘‘He’d be a serious get for the team and the town, being such a big name within the Benalla community.’’
Morgan said the club was in regular discussions with Martiniello, whose father John Martiniello was also an assistant coach of the senior side this season.
Benalla has also secured former Mulwala footballer Cameron Symes for the 2014 season.
Symes, who has family connections to the Benalla area, will add strength to the Saints’ forward line.
‘‘Cam will play probably as a key forward, lead-up type across the half-forward line,’’ Morgan said.
‘‘He’ll add another target going forward.’’
Morgan said the club was in preliminary discussions with a number of other players, and was working hard to secure them.
