Local cyclist wins Australian championships

Benalla cyclist Felicity Wardlaw upstages champions to win the Australian women's time trial title.

Local fire planner Felicity Wardlaw has earnt her place in cycling history after winning the Cycling Australia Road National Championships elite women’s time trial this afternoon.

Wardlaw completed the 28km course at Burrumbeet near Ballarat in 38mins 46secs, ending the three-year reign of Shara Gillow.

The 36-year-old defeated Gillow by 32 seconds and Bridie O’Donnell by 37 seconds.
