2013 Yarrawonga Mulwala Splash n Dash
The 2013 Splash n Dash kicks off this Saturday and Sunday, March 16 and 17.
Registrations have been strong for this weekend’s annual Splash ‘n’ Dash event to be held this Saturday and Sunday, March 16-17.
With more than $6,000 in cash and prizes up for grabs the event has become popular with locals and many athletes travelling from Melbourne and from around the region. This year all registered competitors will go into a draw to win a fabulous Mountain Bike donated by Action Bike and Ski.
Splash ‘n’ Dash incorporates the 1.4km State to State Swim on Saturday afternoon and the Yarrawonga Foreshore 10km and 5km Fun Run on Sunday morning. Remember, you can do one event or both, go in a group or as an individual, it’s all about having a go and enjoying our wonderful lake and foreshore.
The State to State Swim commences at 4pm at the Yarrawonga Foreshore (near the skate park) where participants head off to swim across Lake Mulwala to the Mulwala Water Ski Club Lagoon. The distance is 1.4km which is around 28 laps of an Olympic size swimming pool.
The Splash ‘n’ Dash swim is for anyone 15 years of age and over and it will be completely patrolled the entire distance so get your goggles on and get swimming. For information contact Anna Dickie 0427 443980 or Phillip Dickie 0428 692 611.
The annual Yarrawonga Foreshore Fun Run is held on the Sunday (near the Yarrawonga Waterslide) from 9am and includes a 5km and 10km run/walk. For information contact Andrew Macpherson 0404 372647 or Peter Elliott 0434 625485.
There are also 1km and 3km junior events starting at 10am. Registrations for the Junior Fun Run can be taken on line at no cost, however it would be greatly appreciated if a gold coin donation could be made on the day to support the Rosemary Cullen Foundation. For more information contact Lynda White on 0407 432 756.
The event is run along Lake Mulwala into the Chinaman’s Island Reserve and the 10km course includes running though the picturesque Silverwoods Lifestyle Golf Resort.
For more information or to register online go to www.splashndash.com.au or pick up a registration form from the Sacred Heart Primary, Sacred Heart Secondary College, Mulwala Water Ski Club or the Yarrawonga Chronicle.
